Strange somehow. Yahoo!Music Unlimited is a subscription based music service with a subscription fee of $ 5.99 to $ 8.99 per month. According to The Assoicated Press, Yahoo is going to close the subscription service, redirect users to the Real Network and embed Rhapsody into its portal.
That Yahoo! wants to part with a paid subscription service, this is quite understandable - they recently announced a new music strategy that focuses on selling DMR-free mp3 and free distribution of music on an advertising basis. It is not clear why they should redirect their users to competitors, instead of simply closing the registration of new users (registration is still open) and then transfer users to a new service.
