The Pulitzer Prize award rules have been amended to cover all journalistic formats used by news organizations in production.
The main goal of the changes is to recognize the growing importance of the visual component of information, as well as the intention to evaluate the best journalistic works, regardless of format.
12 of the 14 categories have been modified to include any available journalistic format, including text, video, databases, multimedia, interactive presentations, or any combination of these formats. The rules did not change for only two categories related to static photographs.

New rules will take effect already on the awarding of next prizes in 2011.
