AOL bought the Huffington Post for $ 315 million

AOL acquired the Huffington Post, launched in 2005 with a meager million dollars in investment and growing to one of the most visited US news sites.



As part of the deal, co-founder and chief editor of the Huffington Post, Arianna Huffington, will be appointed president and chief editor of the Huffington Post Media Group, which will bring together all the content of the Huffington Post and AOL, including Engadget, TechCrunch, and many other projects.



According to the New York Times , AOL will pay $ 315 million. It will be the company's largest acquisition since it was separated from Time Warner in 2009.

The press release states that the total audience of the new conglomerate will be 117 million unique visitors per month in the US and 270 million worldwide.
