BlackBerry changes profile

BlackBerry is now far from the best of times. True, the company's CEO John Chen managed to pull the BlackBerry out of the financial pit, where the manufacturer of smartphones of the same name got after a series of unsuccessful projects. But all the same obstacles to the revival is still a lot.

Currently, Vedomosti reports, BlackBerry’s market share in the smartphone market does not exceed 1%. Since 2013, when John Chen was appointed to the post of CEO of the company, BlackBerry has released five models of smartphones, management even managed to get a small quarterly profit. But the company's revenue is gradually falling, and in the last fiscal quarter, revenue amounted to $ 793 million, which is a third less than the same period last year.

In order to change the situation and improve financial performance, the CEO of the company intends to give priority to the sale of software and the provision of services to corporate clients. BlackBerry is gradually moving in this direction - now the company offers customers several software products that allow companies to control their employees' smartphones, while being compatible with iOS and Android OS. Another product protects communication lines of companies from listening and intercepting data.

The company's management hopes that by 2016 BlackBerry revenue will grow to $ 500 million due to new offers. However, financial analysts do not share this view.

Nevertheless, so far the BlackBerry has been working quite successfully, continuing to sell their smartphones. Thus, the company managed to conclude several partnership contracts with the largest US mobile operators, Verizon and AT & T, which distribute Passport and Classic models.
