PayPal and Data Insight research agency presented the results of an annual study on changes in consumer behavior of Russian Internet users.
From the results of the study it becomes clear that regardless of the changes in the economic situation in the country, Russians continue to actively explore the possibilities of online shopping and payments. The study showed changes over the past year:
The number of Russian Internet users making online payments increased from 50% in 2014 to 63% of respondents in 2015.
Shopping in foreign online stores from 18% to 31%.
Online money transfers from 32% to 49%.
The increase in the number of online payments is primarily due to new users by 55% per year.
The increase in the number of consumers over the age of 55 by 17%.
The number of users of electronic money for the year increased by 52%.
Most consumers made purchases in the following categories: electronics, books, automobile goods.
According to a research company, an online survey was made on the basis of a sample of 4,000 people (using panel online research) from February 24 to March 5, 2015. The target audience of the survey - Russian Internet users aged 18 to 64 years. The survey was conducted on quota sampling with quotas by gender, age and macro-region. The results of the survey were further re-weighted taking into account such parameters as the experience of using the Internet and visiting or not visiting key sites related to online purchases and online payments.
