RBC has sold QIP.ru and other entertainment projects

According to Roem.ru, private investors from the CPA networks market bought a number of projects from RBC media holding: the portal QIP.ru, News.qip.ru, the educational database 5ballov.qip.ru, the test selection service Aeterna.qip.ru, astrological service Horo.qip.ru, postcard service Kards.qip.ru, Radio.qip.ru, photobank Photo.qip.ru, service for creating screenshots Shot.qip.ru, forums Borda.ru and Forum24.ru, service for storing and exchanging data Files.qip.ru and qip.ru mail. However, the QIP messenger itself is still owned by RBC.

While the details of the transaction were not disclosed. According to Roem.ru, Traffic.ru and ActionPay shareholders have become buyers. “The QIP.ru team in its entirety has passed to new owners,” said Alexander Kononenko, CEO of Media Mir, manager of entertainment assets of RBC.

A year and a half ago, RBC management decided to gradually sell entertainment projects and focus on the development of business assets. The reason for this decision was the drop in profits of online entertainment projects for a long time, which is not the case with projects with business content.

In December 2014, RBC sold the video hosting site Smotri.ru. “The sale of Smotri.com is another step in the strategy chosen by RBC to focus on the development of business assets and the sale of entertainment,” Alexander Kononenko explained at the time.

Even earlier, in August 2013, it became known that the media holding put up for sale the website Relax.ru, the loveplanet dating site and the children's social network Tvidi.ru.

Entertaining assets were planned to be sold separately, and now some of them are sold, and the rest are at different stages of negotiations, according to representatives of RBC.
