Google has introduced pre-moderated apps and age ratings on Google Play

Google has announced the rejection of instant publication of applications in the Play Store. According to Techcrunch , a team of testers working on the pre-moderation of applications and games has been working on the platform for the past two months. Since May, all developers will be required to survey, allowing you to assign an application age rating.

Google Play Business Development Director Purnima Kochikar has been working on the introduction of a pre-moderation system over the past 6 months. The purpose of the mechanism is to identify violators of the platform’s policies at the very beginning of the process. For two months, while the system is running, there have been no complaints, Kochikar notes. Approval of the application takes several hours, despite the presence of the human factor. The reason lies in the element of automation: the company uses software for preliminary analysis - searching for malicious content, images with sexual content and copyright infringements.

Developers in the Developer Console will be able to track the approval process.

Age rating

Google has announced an age rating system for games and applications. At the beginning of May, it will be mandatory for developers to complete the survey, which is necessary for setting the correct rating. The system will depend on the region and is regulated by the relevant organizations, and in the absence of such rules, the company uses a common system.
