According
to Vedomosti, data storage with a capacity of more than 25 GB on the Mail.ru Cloud will become a paid service for newly registered users. Mail.ru Group
considers this fact to be a new opportunity for users to expand their cloud space.
In August 2013, when the service just started, users were provided with 100 GB for free. And for all registered users at the time, these conditions will indeed remain.
“Today, Mail.Ru Cloud provides free 25 GB to new users: this is the largest amount offered by cloudy RuNet storage. At the same time, we have a category of active users who do not even have such an impressive cloud: they have already reached or are close to reaching the free limit and need additional space. It is for them that we are introducing tariff plans, ”explains Alexei Sergeev, deputy vice president of the Mail.Ru Group for strategic products.
')

According to Sergeev, the audience of Mail.ru Clouds has about 24 million users. Among them, 65% are Russians, 12% are Ukrainians, 8% are residents of Turkey, 4% are from Kazakhstan, 3% are from Belarus.
For comparison: Yandex.Disk was launched in the spring of 2012, and in the summer of 2013 the number of users reached 12 million. But, according to Yandex representatives, their number increases by 1 million every month.
Of course, one of the reasons for this growth is that cloud technologies are gaining popularity all over the world.

Cloud Mail.ru was initially designed for private users, but now the service is also suitable for corporate clients. The cloud service logically
fits into the overall package of services of Mail.ru for Business.
However, the introduction of tariffing is not only associated with an increase in volume to 4 TB and an expansion of the target audience. The service has new features: “sharing” folders, editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations online. In terms of security, two-factor authentication is implemented, automatic scanning of downloaded files for viruses and much more.
