The Russian server market grew in money, but declined in quantitative terms

According to Vedomosti , the Russian server market last year grew in monetary terms by 2.4%, to $ 926 million. However, in quantitative terms, the market volume decreased by 5.6% to 143,000. From October to December shipments amounted to about a quarter of the annual rate - 36,600 units. This is 2.6% less than in the fourth quarter of 2013. In monetary terms, the market volume in Q4 grew by 6.2% - to $ 278.17 million.

A similar situation was observed in the third quarter of 2014. In July-September, the number of servers shipped to the country decreased by almost 8%, to 33,383 units, but in monetary terms, shipments grew by 3.9%, to $ 222.26 million.

IDC senior analyst Mikhail Popov argues that the growth in market volume in monetary terms is caused by increased demand from government agencies and the financial sector, with demand focused on server-based RISC solutions. RISC (reduced instruction set computer) is a specific processor architecture in a limited set of commands. Under this architecture, you can optimize the server's OS, resulting in the output of the acceleration of the system.

Servers of this type are purchased to perform complex tasks of processing large data arrays. The price of this type of server is 2-3 million dollars, and the most popular systems are those manufactured by IBM and Oracle.

According to analysts, sanctions may be the reason for the increased demand for servers. Customers simply bought high-performance servers in advance, fearing that after a certain time it would not be possible to order them.

According to Mikhail Popov, in 2015 the server market will grow.
