ChronoPay wants to return ChronoSwift

According to Interfax, today the domestic processing company is going to apply to the Court of Intellectual Property Rights with a statement of termination in our country of the exclusive right to use the Swift trademark of the same name system.

The basis for satisfying this requirement is the company, firstly, the distinction between the areas of activity of companies within the framework of using the term, and secondly, the fact that a foreign company has registered a commonly used word as a trademark.

In February, ChronoPay, on behalf of SWIFT (Society for the Worldwide International Financial Telecommunication SCRL), was filed a claim on violation of exclusive rights to the Swift trademark. The reason for the claim was the use by ChronoPay of the ChronoSwift name for its operating system.

Until the situation is resolved, ChronoPay will temporarily rename its service to Chrono-Sinsu. Also, the domestic processor is counting on the voluntary refusal of the company vis-à-vis the rights to the eponymous trademark with a deadline of April 10, 2015.

By the way or not, ChronoPay is one of the largest operators of online payments through bank cards, as well as part of the RNP holding. The company provides 45% of card payments in RuNet. The main shareholder of the company is Pavel Vrublevsky.
