According to Vedomosti , the budget for Moscow’s video surveillance system in 2015 is 3.85 billion rubles. This was told by the representative of the Department of Information Technology of Moscow (DIT) Elena Novikova. Last year, the budget for the surveillance system was 4.2 billion rubles. Savings of 15% were possible due to an increase in contracts in competitive procedures from 3 to 5 years. At the same time, the city authorities do not create their own infrastructure, but purchase video from camera operators.
In 2014, operators installed about 127,600 cameras. The maximum number of cameras is set at porches (97478) and in the courtyards (20145). According to officials, the cameras now provide coverage for 85.4% of entrances and 57.8% of yards. The rest of the cameras are located in crowded places: in squares, in front of shopping centers and other places. All information from the cameras comes to DC with a memory capacity of 20 petabytes.
In 2014, government agencies gained access from 14,404 cameras installed in various public places. In 2015, new cameras will not be installed, instead the city authorities will enter into agreements with operators of various cameras. Operators are four companies: Rostelecom, MGTS (MTS subsidiary), Megafon and Comcor (Acad Telecom brand). Rostelecom owns more than 56,000 cameras in Moscow, 22,000 cameras to Comcor, 47,000 MGTS, and 1,000 to Megafon.
