Israeli doctors
have created a computer program that can be called the "electronic ear." It is able to accurately capture and analyze vibrato - periodic changes in pitch, volume, or timbre of a sound, including the human voice. Vibrato when singing is caused by a pulsation of sound pressure. This is a unique characteristic of sound, which previously could only be accurately evaluated by specially trained experts. Now the computer is capable of it.
The Israeli program not only measures vibrato, but also gives the necessary feedback, with the help of which novice singers can improve the sound of their voice. In principle, such a program can even be used to teach people how to sing.
In addition, the program can be used for other purposes. So, in call centers, computers can better capture emotions in a human voice, such as anger or nervousness. The automatic call center, having caught such, can automatically switch the angry subscriber to the live operator.
