Viacom, which owns several entertainment channels, including MTV, has demanded that YouTube's video service remove over 100,000 clips from which it owns copyright from its server. At the same time, the company did not sue YouTube.
Viacom blamed the video service and its owner, Google, for not creating “filters” to prevent clips that are subject to copyright from being placed on the server. In addition, the media company claims that YouTube and Google "do not want to enter into a fair market agreement that would allow YouTube users to access Viacom-owned content."
YouTube, for its part, promised to remove those clips whose owners officially require it. At the same time, representatives of the video service expressed regret that Viacom would not be able to continue to benefit from placing their clips on such a popular one, which increased the popularity of TV programs,
