FairSearch took the side of Yandex in conflict with Google

The FairSearch Alliance (Microsoft, Nokia, Oracle and others) supported the Yandex complaint against Google’s aggressive actions to impose its services and monopolize the search engine market, Kommersant newspaper reports .

“The investigation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) against anti-competitive business practices by Google was the eighth among those conducted by regulators on four different continents,” commented representatives of FairSearch. “By actively promoting its own search engine, Google introduces restrictive agreements that force mobile device manufacturers to abandon the Yandex search preinstallation.”

FairSearch Europe appealed to the European Commission with a similar complaint back in April 2013, condemning Google’s “predatory practice” of spreading Android OS “below cost”. This company policy does not allow developers of other operating systems to compete fairly in the market.

In the field of mobile technology, Google received "unprecedented power." In this situation, vendors are simply forced to agree to the presence of Google in their smartphones and tablets.

According to LiveInternet estimates, the share of Yandex in the Russian search engine market in Q4 2014 averaged 59.7%. If Yandex wins this dispute, its share will grow, and Google may face a fine.
