Every year, the US Army conducts a review of new scientific and technical inventions. There are not only new types of weapons, but also advanced developments in the field of communications, new materials, new medicines and so on.
The exhibition traditionally takes place in the spring, but the winners were announced only in June. An interesting selection of photos about army R & D has been
published on Cnet.com.

The photo above shows the semi-automatic sniper system for the M110 rifle. It is designed for simultaneous targeting to several targets, and then hit them with a quick series of shots. In addition, this is the first rifle with a silencer, which is attached and removed in one motion.
The following photo shows the unmanned aerial vehicle RQ-7 Shadow 200, for which a new two-way control system was created. Now you can control the drone and receive video from it even from a portable radio (PRC-152 special radio).

In the next snapshot, soldiers program the XM982 Excalibur artillery shells, pumping terrain coordinates into it. This projectile is considered the future of artillery, it is guided by a GPS target.

The armored anti-mine transporter RECCE (photo below) is a modified version of the Cougar 6x6 MRAP, which runs in front of the convoy, clearing the road from the mines. American engineers added several subsystems to it: sensors on gyroscopes, the Blue Force Tracker air tracking system to recognize friendly aircraft, as well as a system of remote descent to the surface and receiving the Talon miner robot back without even opening the hatch on the transporter.

For the machine gunner on an armored "Hummer" or transporter, they invented a more convenient, better protected turret Objective Gunner Protection Kit, which even has rear-view mirrors.

A similar turret Picatinny Blast Shield is used as a superstructure over the existing tower. Its tilted sides protect from splinters and shock waves.
