Debt subscribers of Russian telecom operators can reach 29.5 billion rubles

According to the National Collection Service (NSV), in 2014, overdue debts of individuals to Russian telecom operators increased by 18% and amounted to 27.2 billion rubles. Anton Dianov, managing director of NSV, said that this estimate follows from the reports provided by more than 20 operators, including the companies of the big “cellular three”.

Most of the receivables are usually debts of individuals. For cellular companies, its share has already grown to 70%.
Debt is considered overdue if it is not repaid within 90 days.

From the reports of the companies, it also follows that the largest sums (about 23.2 billion rubles in total) are owed by subscribers for mobile services and mobile Internet. For fixed telephony, they owed 2.6 billion rubles, of which 2.2 billion - debt for long-distance and international communication services. And the debt for the wired Internet amounted to 1.4 billion rubles.

In 2013, the average size of the debt and the term of overdue debt reached a minimum: 728 rubles and 248 days, respectively. In 2014, they again rose to 1,000 rubles and 311 days. As Dianov explains, the reason is the sharp increase in the number of smartphones per capita and, as a result, the emergence of debts for the mobile Internet. According to estimates of NSV, in the first quarter of 2015 subscribers' debts will increase to 28 billion rubles, and in the second quarter - to 29.5 billion.

Representatives of the VimpelCom and MTS companies note that they do not observe major changes.

The representative of the company “Megafon” Aliya Beketova believes that the growth of debt is associated only with an increase in the subscriber base, and in 2015 there will be no deterioration of the situation.

Another issue is in the company Tele2: due to the use of prepaid tariffs, debts among subscribers almost do not arise.

Of course, one cannot say that this is an objective picture. The picture is not complete, especially since it was not possible to get comments from Rostelecom. Perhaps their information would allow a better understanding of the situation.
