Japanese apload limited to 30 GB per day

Even in Japan, Internet service providers have to contend with the few subscribers who abuse service. By connecting to the tariff with unlimited traffic, they use the band around the clock, without formally violating the terms of the contract. Therefore, providers are forced to establish certain minimum restrictions in order to protect themselves at least a little from such “malware”.

The Japanese provider NTT from August 1, put such a restriction for its users. What is interesting here is not the fact itself, but the size of the limit. Since Japan has one of the highest Internet bandwidths in the world (the majority of subscribers are connected via fiber, anonymous 100 Mbit / s at $ 46 per month are popular now), so the corresponding limit is 30 GB per day. Interestingly, this restriction is only on apload, and downloading is still unlimited. After exceeding the limit, users - potential owners of file servers and torrent hubs - will receive a warning from the provider. In the case of multiple exceedances, they can be switched off altogether.

Especially touchingly against the background of Japanese news are stories about American “broadband bandits,” who maliciously download from 5 to 40 GB per month and are subject to harassment from their Internet providers.
