February 19, the Moscow Exchange hosted a presentation of the book “Guide for the Issuer: How to Become a Public Company”, written with the participation of a number of expert authors, including from VTB Capital, Renaissance Capital, Sberbank CIB, EM, EY, MSCI and PwC.
Alexander Afanasyev, Chairman of the Board of the Exchange, said that the IPO for a long time seemed like something sacred to Russian companies, and now it’s time to desacralize it.

The exchange decided to release the book for two reasons. The first is “self-serving,” Afanasyev acknowledged: the more public companies in the country, the more interesting it is for investors to work on the Russian market, including on the stock exchange.
Speaking of the second reason, Afanasyev remembered these words: "The most convincing preacher of righteous life is a former sinner, one who has experienced the horrors of sin." And since the exchange itself has now learned all the “horrors” of the path to publicity, it decided to share this knowledge with other issuers.
The book has four chapters: "On the Moscow Exchange Group", "Preparing for an IPO", "Conducting an IPO" and "The Life of a Public Company."
In total, 29 external authors and 14 employees of the Moscow Exchange worked on the writing of the chapters, besides them, representatives of the legal department and the stock market department were involved in the work.
