Kickstarter: statistics of successful and failed projects
Did you know that 56% of Kickstarter campaigns fail? Moreover, 90% of failed projects do not collect a third of the requested amount. And among successful projects, half is gaining a little more than desired (up to 110%). And only 5% of projects receive two or more times more than they wanted.
We in Alconost love to make rollers-infographics: on such projects we rest from ordinary trailers and tutorials about software and games. Therefore, when we stumbled across the network on Kickstarter project statistics, we could not resist and made a video on it:

Slightly more numbers about Kickstarter - under the cut.
By the way, if you have burning non-obvious statistics, please contact us at info@alconost.com . We do not promise anything, but perhaps we will make a video infographic on it. Of course, free and with your logo. So, the facts: 56% of all Kickstarter projects are failures. 90% of failed projects collected less than 30% of the target amount. 97% of failed projects collected less than 50% of the target amount. 50% of successful projects collected 100-110% of the target amount. 5% of successful projects collected more than 200% of the target amount.
This suggests a thought: if projects on Kickstarters fail, then they fail in a large way, and if they “take off,” they rarely collect much more than was requested.
10 times the requested amount is usually collected projects about software, hardware, games and industrial design.
Projects with a target amount of $ 10k in “fly up” in 38% of cases. Projects with a sum of $ 50k are successful in 18% of cases. Projects with a sum of $ 100k have a 7% chance of success.
It is interesting to compare the number of friends on Facebook with the project’s founder and the project’s chances of success: 9% of successful founders have 10 friends, 100 friends have 20% of successful founders, 1000 friends have 40% of founders. Cap suggests that sociable and socially active founders have a better chance of success :)
If the project is finished with Kickstarter, it is doomed to success in 89% of cases (for projects with a target amount of $ 10k).
And the success of the project on Kickstarter is influenced by a high-quality and logical video, but this is in one of our next articles.
