Microsoft will pay 200 million for the manufacturer of N-Trig styluses



Microsoft is going to buy Israeli N-Trig, a manufacturer of advanced digital styluses, for $ 200 million. These styluses, in particular, were included in the Surface Pro 3 tablet set. Now 170 people work at the N-Trig, and after the transaction is completed, the entire staff goes to Microsoft.

It is worth noting that a year ago, Microsoft invested several million US dollars in N-Trig, becoming the owner of a 6.1% stake in the company. The products of the Israeli company is a success with a number of manufacturers, in particular, the supply of styluses go to Sony, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard and Lenovo.

The company earns well. In particular, the earnings of N-trig in 2013 amounted to 36.7 million US dollars. There is also data for the first half of 2014: during this period, the Israeli company received revenue of $ 20.6 million. According to Arstechnica, the number of styluses sold by N-trig for the year reached 1.3 million, which is three times more than in 2013.

Despite the positive dynamics of income and high sales levels, in the past the company had significant financial problems. In particular, in 2011 the company had only 5 million dollars left, after which there were difficulties in servicing the debts. In 2014, the company intended to buy Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, but these plans were canceled.
