Dividend payments in 2014 amounted to a record 1.167 trillion dollars
Shareholders of 1200 of the world's largest companies received dividends in 2014 in the amount of 1.167 trillion US dollars, according to a report from the Henderson Global Dividend.
The amount of dividends to shareholders of companies grew by 10.5 percent compared with 2013. 11% of all payments fall on the ten largest companies, with that, and 18% falls on the top twenty. In the UK, the telecommunications company Vodafone paid the most generous dividends. Other major payers include Apple and Microsoft. Over the past five years, the size of payments has increased by 60%, but analysts predict a reduction in growth and report that next year dividends will rise by 0.8%.
