From March 1, the "Police" intends to close unwanted sites without a trial.
Russia sent its report on the situation with the protection of intellectual property in the country to the US Trade Representation. Such reports are compiled annually by countries that do not sufficiently protect intellectual property. The document stressed that a lot of hard work has been done to improve the protection of intellectual property. Improved IP legislation and application.
In particular, among the merits of Russia were brought high-profile criminal cases against users of the Vkontakte network, closing the largest torrent trackers: torrents.ru, interfilm.ru and puzkarapuz.org, as well as the mp3 site zaycev.net. At the same time, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade complains that 70% of the pirate sites are technically located outside the territory of Russia - outside the area of operations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Separately, it is emphasized that the fight against piracy will be facilitated with the entry into force of the Law on Police on March 1, which will give the police the right to close websites “on demand to the management of hosting companies”, without waiting for a court decision. ')
Representatives of Yandex and Mail.ru so far refrained from commenting on the innovations in the law.
