Some time ago I published a scientific article in a Russian journal from
the VAK list .
The magazine also has an English version, which is produced by a well-known foreign publisher - it is simply a collection of translations of original articles.
A couple of days ago I received an e-mail from the editorial office of the Russian magazine about the following.
Dear author,
You can receive in the Russian Authors' Society a fee for an article published in the journal Name of the Journal .
For a fee, you should:
- fill the contract with RAO if you receive a fee for the first time;
- fill in the statement;
if you published articles in our journal in previous years and did not receive the corresponding fee, then list these publications in the statement; - transfer the contract and certificate statement to RAO.
I am not interested in the fee. I don’t care about copyrights (let's say I want my article to be freely available). But at the same time, I don’t want the author's payments to fall into the pocket of RAO.
')
I have never entered into an agreement with RAO and have not signed any papers from the editors of the journal.
Has anyone encountered a similar situation?
How does the copyright protection mechanism work in this case?
What do you recommend to do?
