Karma: reward for ... silence?

So, at once I will notice - I send this post in "Ideas for a site" simply because the blog "Habr's Talk" is not, and to create somehow there is no special need.

What is karma? What is any method of digital assessment of human activity on any site? That's right, encouragement to perform certain activities that its creators would like to see on the site.

What would you like to see on Habré Deniskin and Korovkin? Praavavilno, many good articles and translations, to them a lot of good comments. “Good” is defined by other users by voting for articles, comments and users themselves.

')

This mechanism works like this - Habra is better to see good translations on the forum than good original articles, so the output threshold for them is lower - and for links above, for links are usually googled. Good and so will get enough points, and come out on the main point .

Maybe this is an individual practice, but the abundance of experience “for the topic of advantages, the karma of minus” suggests that this is not so. For three days on Habré I published three topics, two of them appeared on the main one. The story unfolds as follows - as long as the topic hangs in the "new" ones, it is gradually commented on, voted on, karma is growing. As soon as he goes to the main - a bunch of minuses in karma. The logic is obviously this - while it is in the general stream of “new”, it is read only by those who want it — when it goes to the main page, everyone reads it, and who has a negative opinion, they express it not with angry comments or a minus topic, spit in karma.

It turns out that the “system” provokes me, as an author, to go and kill myself up the wall to write topics of a “small” scale that will not come to the main page, but just one by one they will slowly supplement karma.

Do not think this is not a personal whine about karma - I have enough of mine to write in collective blogs, and I don’t need to anymore - but it seems to me that the problem is massive.

The general conclusion is: personally, I want the writing of popular, discussed, plus content to be “encouraged” - in the habra system of concepts it influences karma positively.

The conclusion is private: can it be better for karma to be derived from the pros and cons of materials and comments, rather than abstract spitting and impulsive pluses?
