A year and a half ago, an important event happened in the life of Habr:
a project called Geektimes
appeared , where non-core hubs and a significant portion of content that had no direct connection to development and programming moved.
After another three months
, Megamind
appeared , concentrating around itself everything that in one way or another concerns management, management and marketing in IT, as well as startups.
Thus, we divided Habrahabr into three highly specialized resources, each of which covered a specific area of interest of our users: Habr - programming and development, GT - space, science, gadgets, entertainment and other topics, MM - business and management.
')
But time passes and everything changes, but the world of development and programming, and indeed the Internet, is developing at high speed. Looking at what is happening on the “Megamind”, it became obvious to us that in the modern vertically integrated world of information technology, where Amazon is no longer an online store, and Apple is about to start producing cars, we cannot separate, actually, its management, as often these things are not just interconnected, but inseparable.
With joy, excitement, but at the same time, with some relief, we announce the release of a new iteration of Habr!
The updated Habrahabr means two important changes at once. Tell about each in order.
Megamind - part of Habr
The project "Megamind" from today ceases to exist as a separate resource and integrates with Habr. All publications with comments are moved to the corresponding hubs, while remaining accessible to all users. In fact, there was a “merger and acquisition” deal: management and marketing topics will now receive more attention from the audience, and we will closely monitor the quality of publications. Considering that there are many among you whose professional interests embrace both Habr and MM topics, merging projects will be very useful.
New hub structure
At the same time, we slightly updated the categorization of publications. From now on, all hubs are distributed in the so-called “flows” - thematic categories, each of which covers a specific area. At the moment there are five streams:
- Development
- Design
- Control
- Marketing
- miscellanea
Inside the streams are familiar to you hubs to which you can subscribe - all as usual.
In connection with this innovation, some of the content on Habré will be restructured: some publications will fall into streams other than "Development".
The choice of flow is carried out at the stage of writing or editing a publication. But do not forget that the flow, like hubs, sets the theme and tone of your publication. Takes care of them with all seriousness.
And what about Geektimes?
The project Geektimes does not lose its independence and continues to exist and develop separately as a popular science and technical, in the sense of gadgets, resource. Which, by the way, does not exclude the possibility of another move of some hubs from it back to Habr.
Something else?
The last detail: earlier voting for publications and karma of other users was possible with a value of own karma ≥ 10.
We have lowered this value to 5 - it will be easier for newcomers to vote. However, it is still impossible to vote positively for the karma of users without published publications.
All Startups are moving to Habrahabr, and we will ensure that they meet the strict requirements of the community. Corporate blogs will also relocate. And, naturally, we will continue to consider applications for issuing a Startup blog to the most interesting projects that sent applications for Geektimes or Habrahabr.
These innovations are only part of what we want to do this year. Moreover, much of the planned will be realized thanks to your constructive criticism, reasonable wishes and reasonable suggestions. Follow our announcements.
