Adium: ICQ has failed
I don’t have karmas for Apple’s blog, so I’m writing to myself.
Much has already been noticed, I have no doubt that Adium refuses to connect ICQ accounts, giving the error "ICQ client too old", while sending the user to the page of another Pidgim IM client.
The problem is not in updating to 10.5.4, as many thought, but the problem, as always, comes from ICQ.

The official blog of Adium tells about the following: the link leads to the Pigdin website, because Adium uses its libpurple library in its work. Regarding the error itself: from today, AOL servers only require ICQ 6 for correct operation and not older version. Libpurple is recognized by these servers as ICQ version 5 and, accordingly, receives an arc, which is translated to Adium.
Now everything depends on the developers of Pidgin, how quickly they tweak their libraries under the AOL innovations, and on the Adium developers, who, in turn, will release a fix for their client.
