Systems that are based on a large number of windows, like Mac OS X Finder, constantly face the problem of oversupply of tabs. Apple annotated its new patent to talk about solving this problem with managed transparency.
In the annotation dated March of this year, the Mac manufacturer explains that when the windows overlap each other, they hide the necessary information in the form of other windows or icons.
In this annotation,
Apple revealed the idea of pop-up windows that give information about the current operation, which, although useful, is rather distracting. Thus, it makes sense to use managed pop-up windows of different levels of transparency.
“For example, a window that has not updated information for a long time becomes transparent so that the tabs under it become visible to the user,” the company said. - Other actions or tasks also serve as a kind of trigger for the window. [...] Moreover, when the popup tab becomes transparent, the user can click through it to use the background application information. When the information in the window is updated, it will again be clearly visible for a specified time. ”
')

Apple also explained how a window can become translucent in several steps. For example, a tab can initially be displayed as fully visible, and then, after a certain period of time, step by step, lose its distinctiveness, for example, by 25% each time.
The window can also receive a lower limit of transparency. Each of the parameters is set by an application that generates a tab or is set by a system / user.
