Top 5 reports from the Mobius 2015 Mobile Development Conference
Last year in St. Petersburg, we held Mobius 2015 - a conference for experienced developers using mobile platforms. The conference gathered about 250 developers, of which about 150 are written for Android, 120 - for iOS, and about 100 - for other platforms (how do you like arithmetic?).
The event is truly unique, after all, hardcore mobile conferences in Russia can be counted on the fingers of one hand of a joiner. And in Mobius, the key features were and remain reports . ')
Video recordings of all conference reports are on Youtube . And we, as always, collected statistics from the feedback from participants and calculated ratings. In this post - a traditional review of the best reports of the conference. I will make a short review of the five best performances so that you know a little more about them and see exactly what you need.
So let's go. Andrei Belenko - What it costs and what not to do to protect the data of iOS applications. Average rating: 4.35
In fifth place we have a report on iOS security: an overview of the platform’s capabilities, workarounds and specific data protection tools. In addition to this, Andrew, on lively and vivid examples, tells about the security holes of existing applications.
What exactly?
For example, how to prevent unsafe data storage when working with the network (namely, disactivate the application to write the history of your URL requests to internal memory).
Or what errors in the application code lead to keychain vulnerabilities in backups (which break down at times)?
Or why not trust the storage system of all iOS applications? These are just a couple of examples.
As a result, Andrew offers 3 important "NOT" mobile security. What kind? See for yourself.
This year, Andrew will also speak at Mobius on the topic of security. The exact topic is now being approved.
Alexey Zinoviev - Android Geo Apps: In Soviet Russia, latitude and longitude are looking for YOU! Average rating: 4.4
The fourth place is taken by Alexei Zinoviev’s visual report on the capabilities, technologies and APIs of cartographic services on Android: from the well-known GoogleMaps and Yandex.Maps to OsmDroid, MapQuest and MapBox.
It would seem that all this can google, see and compare yourself. However, the true value of the report appears in the presentation along with a bunch of links to examples and source codes of real-world applications with bolted geoservices, which you can optionally gut and use in your work.
However, we do not recommend to be limited to just one presentation, because the report by Alexei is 50 minutes not only useful, but also a catchy performance. However, see for yourself!
Vladimir Ivanov - Mobile threats: defend yourself! Average rating: 4.41
The best report of Mobius 2015 on the security of mobile applications from the speaker of Kaspersky Lab (at the time of the presentation he worked there) begins with a general overview of the types of malware and the principles of their operation, then proceeds to ways to protect mobile applications at the source code level.
No boring theory, all this is told on examples and in the code: analysis of the security level of a Wi-Fi point; control incoming SMS; data encryption; interception of keystrokes and other malware tools.
Now Vladimir is working at Apollofon and on 4 June in St. Petersburg will give a presentation on the philosophy and practice of applying material design.
Matvey Malkov - Jet engine for your Android application. Average rating: 4.46
Although the report is essentially an introduction to reactive programming, you will find a lot of code and hardcore in the video. Probably, it allowed him to gain wide recognition among the conference participants.
Yes, only the lazy one didn’t talk about reactive programming - but don’t be in a hurry to shrug your shoulders, the trick of the report is in a ton of living practical examples: cases, diagrams, task visualization and a bunch of other things. Starting from a review of the features of the operators and syntax, we’ve come to RxJava to the hundredth (!) Slide, delving into the already interesting Senior-am features with detailed code analysis: debounce, cache, reduce, distinct, etc - and this is also a good hundred slides.
Closer to completion, a concurrency awaits you, and the cherry on the cake with a spoon of tar becomes an overview of the shortcomings of the reagent, namely memory memory, complex debugging, complication of application logic and the absence of steep teams of reactivators.
This year, for Mobius 2016, Matvey is preparing two new reports: something new about RxJava and Scala on Android.
PS And at the end of the video there is the same cherry, which one? The video right here, see:
Mikhail Samarin - Mobile app development for global brands. Average rating: 4.49
Well, here we come to the best report of the past year. Mikhail's speeches always attract a large audience: an excellent speaker, an enviable background and a breadth of vision that is unusual for a technical report — all this consistently ensures high ratings for reports. Yes, they usually do not have hardcore, and Michael’s speech at Mobius 2015 is a set of practical recommendations and advice to the developer.
What exactly are we talking about? At a minimum, on the development of a dozen mobile applications with a detailed overview of the pitfalls and lessons learned. Please note that this is not so much about the management integration of applications in terms of working with large customers, but about the analysis of the technical aspects of their development: from choosing a framework and building an application architecture to UI / UX chips and other buns.
It is worth looking at each and every one, because the developer gives such an overview the opportunity to look at his work from a bird's eye viewpoint from the point of view of the customer, sponsor or brand owner.
PS And finally, if you didn’t have enough, we offer you a report in the nomination “Audience Award” - Anton Keks ’cheerful performance with demos and rating 4.26:“ Chromecast, or why it’s the best way to spend 30 € ”. At the same time learn the etymology H2G2-42.
This year, Mobius will be held on Saturday, June 5, as part of a kind of IT-forum, consisting of three industry-specific IT conferences ( Mobius , DotNext , HolyJS ).
This year’s program has confirmed 16 reports out of 21.
