Like many web developers, I want a speedy death for IE6. Outdated versions of other browsers are not so common, and therefore cause less trouble, but they would also be nice to disappear. This task could be solved by an automatic update, but it is often turned off by the “administrators”, and often users do not even know what past they are in.
I do not want to sit passively and wait until the old versions are gone. I think that users need to be encouraged to update, gently but aggressively. Therefore, I have sketched such a
script, offering to update the browser .
The principle of its operation is very simple: determine the user's browser, determine its version, compare it with the latest known version, and if necessary, suggest upgrading. If the user refused, do not disturb him for another week. The proposal itself is more or less disguised as a
regular system message in IE - for ease of perception.

I understand that this may be the invention of the bicycle, but so far I have not found predecessors. I will be glad to links to them, so as not to multiply the essence.
If someone is interested in using such a script, I will cast a shine on it: minimize, translate into English, etc. Therefore, it is interesting community opinion about this initiative. What do you think?
PS: please do not think that it works incorrectly on the script page - version checking is disabled there specifically so that everyone can see the script in action.
