Microsoft is going to get rid of Flash Player in the Edge web browser

Microsoft experts have published a post called “Putting Users in Control of Flash”, which deals with the Edge web browser (standard Windows 10 web browser) and Flash support. In the new version of Windows 10 (Insider Preview build 14316) Edge will pause the playback of Flash content when the content is not located on the central part of the page. In the case of default settings, only the content that is located on the central part of the web page will be played.

Moreover, Microsoft announced the prospect of abandoning Flash in the Edge web browser by default. We are talking about Edge, but not about Internet Explorer 11, which is forced to have all the functions of supporting content inherited from its previous outdated versions. Unlike IE11, which the company has to support in Windows 10, Edge is positioned as the main web browser in this OS.
Where is the default experience in Microsoft Edge.

Edge is already one of the safest web browsers to date. It is distinguished from Internet Explorer 11 by enhanced security settings, which are disabled by default in IE11 due to compatibility issues with legacy technologies and content. In view of these features, IE11 was clearly inferior to Google Chrome, which had advanced security settings enabled by default. First of all, we are talking about the extended protected mode (AppContainer sandbox) and 64-bit processes for tabs on the 64-bit version of the web browser.

In the new version of Edge, any Flash content located off the center of the visible area of the web page will not be played by default. This should also improve the immunity of the web browser to Flash Player exploits, which allow you to remotely execute code through a vulnerable version of Flash Player. Also, this measure is designed to extend the life of a laptop or tablet battery, which spend some of their energy on the reproduction of relevant content.
