Personal data of 50 million Turkish citizens leaked to the network

Today, unknown hackers have posted on the network data on the inhabitants of the whole country - 49.6 million Turkish citizens were fully disclosed. The data includes the national identifier, the name, surname, name of the mother and father, gender, date and city of birth, as well as the address of residence.

Link to the plum appeared on the forum Hacker News today, April 4. According to the authors of the topic, the problem of Turkey is the weak security of the technical infrastructure, due to which the archive (6.6 GB database) has become publicly available.

The source of the data is not called, but from the description on the site it can be concluded that it was obtained by hacking the access interface to one of the state databases with information about citizens.

One of the users of the bod Hacker News with the nickname ttn, who introduced himself as a resident of Turkey, said that he had found an entry about himself in this database. However, the sink did not surprise him: in his opinion, companies close to the ruling party of Turkey received respective state contracts for huge money years ago and have not learned how to take care of user security.

If the Turkish authorities recognize the leakage of personal data of its citizens, it will be the largest in history. According to the 2013 census, about 74 million people live in Turkey.
