For the first time in its history
, Black Hat has organized a series of online seminars. The first such seminar took place yesterday. It was possible to see the preliminary 10-minute presentations of the reports, which will be fully presented at the annual hacker conference on August 6-7 in Las Vegas.
At the first seminar, five reports were considered. One of them was dedicated to detecting malware in mail traffic in real time. The conference will already show working software. Then Fedor Vaskovich, one of the founders of the Honeynet project and the author of the
NMAP scanner, spoke about the progress of the WorldScan Project project on scanning the entire Internet with the help of its utility. They have already finished scanning, and in August they will tell in detail about the results. In addition, hackers, researchers told about the methods of attack in social networks (UGC-content and social applications are used as a platform for attack), about malicious cookies in Web 2.0 systems, as well as how patches are released at Microsoft: the procedure described in detail from the identification of the hole to the release of the patch using the example of the latest MS Office update
The event "attended" more than a thousand people. It's a good start to start with, and in the future the organizers plan to diversify the presentation of the material, connect the editorial calendar and hold seminars at least once a month. In addition, online training courses will be organized.
