Conference DUMP-2016: Review of the Web-design section

April 8 in Yekaterinburg will host a conference DUMP . Traditionally, we publish reviews of sections from program directors.

Our first post about the Web-design section. Program Director Daria Prokuda told about how the program was prepared, what interesting things would be in the section and why go there.

prokuda.jpg Every time we study the program of the “Web-design and Interfaces” sections, we are morally preparing to hear a bunch of reports on common truths again (how to design interfaces, how to write scripts and create prototypes, how to deftly use design tools and all), we expect that we will be told that we have heard so many times already. When composing a program for DUMP and choosing speakers, we understood that we could not avoid such a situation. But we really wanted to update these truths under the realities of today: with new technologies, attractive options for cooperation, a large number of start-ups and other complex projects.

We invited speakers who will share the pain and stuffed bumps. We hope that their experience will help to avoid some mistakes and teach you how to optimize work at no extra cost.

To make the soap honey and fruit bast, we tried to go beyond the section and present reports in the near-interface space, because the projected interaction from UX to VR is design, and the ability to use techniques from related industries expands the capabilities of any specialist, especially a designer.

I, as a program director of the section, art director and just a designer who loves what he does, I recommend to come and listen to reports to anyone who is at least somehow interested in technology and their development.

And now more about what awaits us.

shuvaev.jpg UXD4Agile: managing user experience in flexible manufacturing

Yaroslav Shuvaev, Alfa Mobile

Product Owner Alpha Mobile at Alfa Bank, curator of the UX & UI intensive in the British Higher School of Design, using the example of Alfa Bank's mobile application, will tell you how to plan and implement improvements to the user experience of the product in a flexible production environment.

ivanov.jpg Difficulties of translation, or open eyes

Anatoly Ivanov, Openlac. Design bureau

Tolya will make a very topical report about working with foreign customers: how to find clients over the hill, how to adapt, how clients from different countries differ, and what is the pain in working with foreigners. All stories are based on the experience of working with customers from the USA, China, Vietnam, Sweden and other countries.

burdin.jpg Interface Designer Transformation

Alexander Burdin, RedMadRobot

The curator of the Mobile Application Design course at the British Higher School of Design, the senior designer at RedMadRobot, will tell you how a designer should change and develop in order to keep up with changes in interfaces, technologies and ways of interacting with them. What skills will be needed in 20 years, and what are needed now? Based on the experience of the British and Robotov, Alexander will create his own pumping plan.

Karmatsky.jpg Cartographically

Andrey Karmatsky, Urbica Design

Andrei leads a studio engaged in the analysis and visualization of data on the urban environment, and will teach you how to work with projects, where there is a lot of data: how the process of creating interfaces that work with complex data is arranged; how it differs from traditional web interfaces; what needs to be considered when visualizing data, and what tools are there today to start doing it.

In addition, on April 7, at 19.00, Andrei will hold an open lecture on maps and the urban environment at Grand Avenue Hotel (Lenin Ave., 40).

akatova.jpg Features of remote research, or how to test a product without a laboratory

Ekaterina Akatova, Mail.Ru Group

In the report, Catherine will tell:

• about remote moderated and unmoderated tests with examples of specific cases;

• Pro tools that allow you to conduct such research for sites and mobile applications;

• about the pros and cons of such methods;

• about the difficulties that you may encounter in the process of such research.

prokuda.jpg How to survive in the wild conditions of a complex developing product. What to love, what to fight and what to score?

Daria Prokuda, Ridero.ru

We will deal with the example of Ridero.ru (the project is a finalist for the Startup of the Year 2015 Award in the Global Startup nomination). Someone who, and I know for sure where to start, where to run and what to do. And also about what problems await on the way to the ideal product, and what to do if you are stuck in them “for the most I don’t want”. What if everything went wrong as you intended. How to preserve consistency, and why it is so important. What is worth loving, what to fight, and what to score. And what is important is how to build the process around you so as to save time and nerves. And nerves, yes.

Faced with a complex project or product? Or maybe you are thinking about switching to product design? Then you are right on this report.

markin.jpg Nontrivial implementation of VR & AR in everyday life

Alexey Markin, JetStyle

Alexey will tell about innovations based on virtual and augmented reality:

• what they are and what they eat;

• why should they be engaged at all if introducing innovations into the work process is nontrivial and difficult?

• how VR & AR are applicable to real life and most ordinary human customers and projects;

• How to choose the right technology for your tasks.

Conclusions based on our own experiments - what could be more useful? From this report on DUMP you will not only learn from experience, but also be able to try virtual and augmented reality on taste and color! In the meantime, you can pozalipat posters with augmented reality from JetStyle here :)

lushnikova.jpgprichodko.jpg The process of quality web product design. It's hard to find, easy to lose and impossible to forget.

Veronika Lushnikova, Pavel Prikhodko, BeaversBrothers

Do projects with an emphasis on high-quality design? Then you are well aware that during the development process there are many bottlenecks that negatively affect the quality of the final product. Layouts on the way lose the brilliant ideas of designers. Designers do not think about the final content and forget about a bunch of small nuances. The result is an oblique project that looks poor. The customer roars, hugging his knees, and is not happy with the result. All quarreled and fought. Art director smacks of designers, and they say that designers are to blame. What to do with it, and who to punish?

Veronika and Pavel will tell you, because of what the client may not get the promise, discuss the ideal process of working on the web product, consider the problems in transferring the design to the layout and show how to solve them.

shtang.jpg Text Algorithm

Igor Shtang, author of the course "Typography and layout"

Igor will present his text layout algorithm to the audience and explain why the text is the starting point and source of ideas for design. And also in the report:

• how to stop making up moody layouts;

• how does the structure differ from the structure;

• where to look for style;

• why the design can not be one correct solution.

Full abstracts and the rest of the program - on the conference website .

By the way, here you can watch video reports from last year’s section.

Let's face it, in Yekaterinburg there are not so many professional events for designers, and we want the meetings and discussions born within the “Web-design” section of the DUMP to be not just traditional, but to unite experts, charge with ideas and give impetus to the development .

Designers, we are waiting for you on April 8 at DUMP !

Thanks to our sponsors that make the conference possible: SKB Kontur , Naumen , IT Center .
