We invite you to Data Fest on March 5 and 6



On March 5 and 6, the Moscow office of Mail.Ru Group will host Data Fest 2 - a two-day series of meetings of the Russian Data Science communities of Moscow Data Fest and Moscow Data Science. Data Fest 2 is a conference where participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with different directions in modern data analysis: from the purely practical issues of implementing research results to the latest theoretical developments in text analysis and in-depth training.

The conference will also include two events where all participants will be able to express themselves: a hackathon for those who want to compete with each other in predicting the outcome of the Dota 2 tournament and a pitch-poster session for researchers where they can present the results of their research and development.

the 5th of March

11:00 Collection of participants

12:00 Sports data analysis

In the Kaggle training format, participants will discuss the solutions of the latest Kaggle competitions, and multiple winners of the competition will share their experiences with those present.

14:00 Panel discussion “Features of hiring Data Scientists”

Within an hour, representatives of technology companies and universities will discuss what to expect from candidates for the post of Data Scientist and how to form teams of analysts.

15:30 Data analysis in practice: Moscow Data Science meetup

In the now traditional format of Moscow Data Science meetings, researchers and engineers will talk about the practical problems they face in their work.

18:00 Network analysis. Social network analysis meetup

In the section devoted to the analysis of network data and social networks, experts and researchers will talk about the results of their research in sociological tasks and applied projects.

20:00 Night hackathon. Dota Science challenge

On the night of March 5-6, the final tournament of the popular game Dota 2 "The Shanghai Major 2016" will be held. Participants of the hackathon will be offered live data on matches, on the basis of which it will be necessary to predict their outcome. Additional information on the hackathon can be found on the website . During the night, live broadcasts of the matches will be broadcast in the cinema of the Mail.Ru Group office.

11:00 am Results of the hackathon by Dota 2. Award winners

At the end of the hackathon, not only the best teams in Dota 2 will be determined, but also the best analysts of this game, who most accurately predicted the outcome of the matches. Winners will receive pleasant prizes from the organizers.

12:00 Research Festival. Pitch poster session

The participants of the section in the 5 + 5 minutes format will tell the results of their research on the topics of Data Science, as well as post posters of their works. We invite students, graduate students and researchers to participate. Submit applications with research abstracts and draft posters to anatekin@deloitte.ru . The top 10 applications will be determined by a March 1 vote in the OpenDataScience community #slack.

14:00 Panel discussion "Implementation of research in production"

In this panel discussion, company representatives will discuss best practices on how to transfer research results to work solutions and products.

15:30 Deep learning. Moscow Deep Learning meetup

Deep learning opens up new opportunities for a variety of applications. In this section, researchers will present the results of their research, as well as reviews of recent results in tasks related to deep learning.

18:00 Analysis of text data. Natural language processing meetup

In the final section of the program, devoted to the analysis and processing of natural language, researchers will talk about thematic modeling, as well as the latest developments in question-response systems.

Registration for Data Fest 2 is carried out through the portal IT.Mail.Ru. It was created for those who are keen on IT and strive to develop professionally in this area. To participate in the hackathon, please register separately. Please note that the number of places on the hackathon is limited.
