Axure 7 for beginners in 100 minutes

Axure is a tool for creating interactive prototypes of sites and mobile applications. Skills to work with it are often required by employers looking for an interface designer or a UX & UI designer. In Russia, this is almost the industry standard. Axure 7 - the latest version of the program. Eighth version is now in beta.

In one school of Internet technologies (I don’t mention that they don’t count as advertising) since May 2015, I’m telling novice designers about Axure 7. For 3 hours (minus a short break) I explain how the features of the program that I need for most projects. And consolidate the knowledge of practice.

Approximate structure of employment:

• Examples of prototypes;
• Widgets, their setting and placement on the canvas using the grid, guides and alignment;
• Masters;
• Dynamic panels;
• Creating an interactive (events, actions, cases, conditions);
• At the end: methods of transferring the prototype to the customer, page properties, styles.

It's hard for beginners to learn so much information, but these are basic things for those who are already working with akshura. To improve the learning process (and not to be bored by telling the same thing), I translated the theoretical part into a video format.

Dive into details

I talked about the main features of Axure, without getting into details, if this knowledge is not in great demand in my work. Below are examples of lessons that will help start moving towards an advanced user.

Running an event when you press Enter

How to perform any action by pressing the enter button when filling out a form (for example, a search form). After watching the video, you can learn about the event “Pressing a button”, about the condition “A certain button is pressed” and more about the properties of form widgets.

Moving from 1st page to a specific place 2nd

How to make the user click on a link on one page and at the same time move to a certain place on the second page. After watching the video, you can learn about global variables.

Working with conditions in Axure 8: If and Else If

The clip is recorded in the eighth version of Axure, but these techniques are true for the current version.

Attach to the top of the page a shortened version of the header and a filter for one of the content blocks. After watching the video, you can learn about the nuances in the work of cases and conditions, in particular, how to switch conditions from Else If to If, and why this may be needed.
