Look out the window

In the hospital, in the double ward, two hopeless patients lay. They had exactly the same beds, absolutely equal conditions ... The only difference was that one of them could see the only window in the ward, and the other did not, but he had a nurse’s button next to him. The time passed, the seasons changed ... The one that lay by the window told his neighbor about everything he saw: that it was raining outside, pouring snow or the sun was shining, that the trees were covered with light sparkling lace, then covered with light spring smoke cleaned up with greens or a farewell yellow and scarlet outfit ... That people walk down the street, cars drive ... What is WORLD there?
And once it happened that the first, the one who was lying by the window, became ill at night. He asked a neighbor to call a nurse, but for some reason he did not. And the patient lying at the window died.
The next day, another patient was brought to the ward, and the old-timer asked, since it happened so, to put him by the window. His request was fulfilled - and at last he saw ... The window looked out onto the deaf gray wall, and there was nothing visible behind it.
