Putin: “Blaming the director is bullshit”

“To grab a man for buying a computer there, and to threaten him with prison — bullshit,” - with these words Russian President Vladimir Putin defined his attitude to the high-profile trial of the director of a rural school. The question of accusing the teacher of copyright infringement of Microsoft was the first to which Putin responded during a large Kremlin press conference.

The head of state said that he did not know the details of the process, but he believed that it was not the consumers who should be punished, but counterfeit manufacturers. He drew a parallel with the drug trade: "We need to fight not with those who use, but with those who distribute and produce drugs."

At the same time, Putin noted: “We have assumed obligations, and our policy will be aimed at protecting copyright,” Prime-TASS reports.

Recall that in May of last year, during an inspection of one of the schools in the Perm Region, it was discovered that “pirated” versions of Windows were running on all computers. The damage to the copyright holder was estimated at 266 thousand rubles, and the director of the Sepychevo secondary school, Alexander Ponosov, went on trial for violating the article “illegal use of copyright objects, committed on a large scale” (punishment - up to 5 years in prison).
