Recruitment to St. Petersburg Academic University

Traditionally we inform about the opening of the recruitment to the department of mathematical and information technologies . We have written quite a lot about our department in this blog, so in this post I will write about everything thesis.

Online Courses

I’ll start from the end: if you don’t finish school or undergraduate this year, you can still learn at the Academic University thanks to our online (together with the Computer Science center ) courses ! (By the way, physics courses from our colleagues will soon appear, stay tuned!)

Undergraduate

We invite younger readers who finish school this year to our undergraduate degree . He is very young, there are only two years, and for the second year in a row we manage to recruit the strongest applicants . With our wonderful second-year students from the first set, we made a small motivational video about our undergraduate degree.

Master's

Those who finish this year a bachelor’s degree or specialty are invited to study with us for a master’s degree. Our department has three directions.

1. Theoretical computer science (computer science)
The curriculum includes basic and advanced courses on algorithms, computational complexity, cryptography, discrete mathematics, mathematical logic, machine learning, and numerous more specialized subjects reflecting modern trends in computer science. Students conduct research under the guidance of specialists in theoretical computer science. Graduates of this direction are trained in Russian and foreign graduate schools, published at leading international conferences.

2. Software development (software engineering)
In the learning process, students participate in the development of software products under the guidance of experienced consultants working in the industry. As part of the direction, you can specialize in various areas: functional programming, big data and machine learning, system programming and robotics, etc. The main focus is on individual practical work with students, student projects are conducted in cooperation with leading Russian IT companies.

3. Algorithmic bioinformatics (algorithmic bioinformatics)
During training, students take part in solving real bioinformatics problems: developing algorithms and software systems for assembling genomes, solving problems in the field of computational proteomics and mass spectrometry. Graduates are in-demand specialists in this field, published at international conferences, continue their education in postgraduate courses at leading universities in the world, or work in high-tech bioinformatics projects.
