Every cyclist needs this device.

In modern society, for many environmentally conscious citizens, bicycle has become the main mode of transport. The bike turned out to be the fastest way to get on and from work compared to driving a car during peak hours. However, there are also disadvantages associated with the need to stop in order to check your direction of travel with the navigator in the phone, which in the worst case could lead to an accident. Cyclists are already supporting the environment, so why shouldn't they have a safer and easier way to and from work? Two London cyclists decided to provide it with a BeeLine device (note of a translator: coincidence with the name of a domestic telecom operator by accident) , a smart and inexpensive navigation gadget for bicycles.

Marc Jinnner and Tom Putnam are the people behind this navigator, whose idea came to them when they planned to meet for lunch, but both got lost on the way. Thus, the duo decided to create a BeeLine to make cycling pleasant and comfortable. The operation of the device is about the size of a wrist watch, similar to the work of a compass. Instead of north, the BeeLine points you to the main direction of your destination, noting the distance you need to travel. The concept of "stripped back" navigation allows you to achieve a safer and more exciting trip. All that is required of a cyclist is to “look out of the direction of the movement”, which allows focusing on the road, instead of looking at street names.

Using the BeeLine is as simple as navigating. The gadget easily snaps onto the handlebars of your bike, after which you must select your destination in a special application to start the trip. You can also save the most regular destinations for their subsequent selection with one click. From this point on, you no longer have to stop to check the direction with the navigator on your smartphone.

BeeLine features are not limited to navigation. It can display the current speed, distance traveled or work in clock mode. It can be perceived as a dashboard of your bike. When the device is not used its design protects the screen, which allows you to attach it to the keys as a keychain or put in a bag or pocket.

To install the BeeLine on different bikes, a silicone strap is used, allowing the device to be fixed on any steering wheel. A backlit display and electronic ink technology is used, and the case allows the device to be used in severe weather conditions. Atmel is based on Atmel microcontroller | SMART SAM3X8E with Cortex M3 core, processing data from the accelerometer, digital compass and gyroscope. The microUSB connector is used to charge the battery, which can work without recharging for several months due to the use of low-power technologies installed by electronic components.
