New tools (Octave and Scilab) in FlyElephant and the announcement of webinars

The FlyElephant team wishes everyone a Happy New Year. We start this year by expanding the list of tools, webinars and building a community around the project.

FlyElephant is a platform that provides scientists with a ready-made computing infrastructure for performing calculations, automates routine tasks and allows you to focus on basic research questions.

For users of the FlyElephant platform, Octave and Scilab are now available, so the full list of supported languages ​​and tools is as follows: GCC (with OpenMP support), R, Python (v2 & v3), Octave and Scilab . The following tools became available to the participants of the beta testing program : Java (v7 & v8), Julia, OpenFOAM, GROMACS and Blender . Our team begins to actively conduct webinars. On them we will acquaint you with FlyElephant and possible options for its application to real-world tasks, as well as with various technologies and tools that may be useful in your work. The following webinars are scheduled for January:

• Introduction to machine learning / January 14 at 4:00 pm (Kiev time) / webinar language is Russian.
• Meet FlyElephant / January 22 at 4:00 pm (Kiev time) / webinar language is Russian.
• Introducing FlyElephant / January 26 at 11:00 (San Francisco) / webinar language - English.

One of the priorities of our team for this year is to build a strong community around FlyElephant. We want to unite specialists from different areas in one place, where large computational capacities are used to solve problems, help them to exchange knowledge and help each other with problem solving, and also to unite to collaborate on projects. While the work on this functionality is in full swing, I want to invite everyone to our slack-chat .

Our team is open for cooperation. We will be glad to cooperate with the owners of computing resources and manufacturers of specialized software. We are ready to support scientists and provide free of charge the necessary amount of resources for their open scientific research. For everyone interested, we will be happy to hold a DEMO presentation of the platform.
