Next week, Microsoft stops supporting all versions of IE, except 11

On January 12, Microsoft discontinues support for Internet Explorer versions 8, 9, and 10. Before discontinuing support for outdated versions of its browser, the company releases the final patch. After that, the specified versions of Internet Explorer will no longer receive security updates or technical support.

In a recent patch, several new problems are fixed, plus the “End of Life” notification is added, which invites users to upgrade to IE 11 or Microsoft Edge, the next version of the corporation browser.

The fact that the old versions of the browser will no longer be supported, the company first reported in August 2014. According to representatives of Microsoft, working with these versions of IE will become unsafe. Many commercial and government organizations will be required to upgrade. According to some regulations, such organizations should use only software that is officially supported by the manufacturer.

However, there are still hundreds of millions of users working with outdated versions of the browser. Microsoft hopes that the “End of life” notification will speed up the process of upgrading to new browser versions.
