Where does IaaS work?

Practical cases, which we have already told:

In addition, we draw attention to foreign experience - we analyze everything related to the work of complex IT systems, infrastructure and hardware.

Today we will introduce you to a number of regular examples of how a business uses IaaS.

One of the very unexpected examples of companies using IaaS is the Speech Technology Center (MDG). We talked more about the projects themselves in one of our past publications. The bottom line is that the ability to quickly develop new products and use a pool of computing resources with high availability is often not available to every business, but the IaaS provider is ready to provide such a service without any capital investment from the company.

In addition to this case, we wrote about how we were able to establish cooperation with the ServiceNow project and integrate it into the work of the Sochi Autodrom operation center, which is engaged in holding the Russian stage of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. ) with the company ServiceNow and provide access to their services in accordance with 152- “On Personal Data” in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Using IaaS in royal racing is a common practice. For example, one of the teams (Sauber) uses the NetApp and Cisco-based FlexPod platform to analyze data coming to the command post directly from the highway.

Thus, the data on the work of a racing car are processed “on the fly” and the team gets insight on which racing strategy can be considered the most profitable in these conditions. In addition to telemetry processing, the team plans to use virtual infrastructure to abandon physical obsolete workstations.

Not everything is so cool

In addition to the advantages of using IaaS, there are certain difficulties. Here, companies are faced with the need to revise a variety of business processes that have lost relevance since the transition to the cloud IT infrastructure.

We already talked about this earlier when we looked at how the transition to the cloud changes the role of the internal IT service . The Weather Channel came up with a similar situation, and decided to go on a hybrid campaign.

As a result, more than 400 IT professionals had to learn new technologies, some of them chose to quit right away. The remaining ones also dealt with hardware, which the company no longer needed, and applications that were based on its own IT infrastructure.
