Today was the release of an excellent Linux Mint 5.0 distribution based on Ubuntu 8.04. It differs from Ubuntu Mint by fixing known errors, the presence of all codecs, closed drivers for video, wi-fi, modems, etc. as well as a set of packages that complement the standard ubuntu:
system configuration mintConfig mintBackup for backup mintUpload to upload files to exchangers directly from the context menu of the file manager mintMenu , complementing the standard menu of the gnome (like in Suse) mintInstall to install packages through the browser in one click mintWifi for configuring wireless networks Wi-Fi As well as a few other utilities to configure and improve the ease of managing the system. Currently, two versions are available: Main - with Gnome 2.22 as the primary medium and a set of non-free software, and Light - without some non-free codecs and drivers.
So if there is a desire to experiment, or you have not yet moved to the family of 8.04 - welcome.
