Phoenix Mars Lander on Twitter

I have never felt sympathy for Twitter, because the idea itself seemed absurd to me, because there are many other ways to report small everyday events. But it so happened, recently I came across the official NASA channel, where they post “live” everything that happens with the Phoenix device on the red planet. News appears in the channel faster than on the news agency tapes, and in addition you can find out the interesting details about the life of the device.

For example, you will not learn from anywhere else that Phoenix manages to send data through the orbital complex to Earth at a speed of 128kbps, and sends up to 150Mb of photos and scientific data per day!

Previously, the speeds were much more modest, I remember something like 9kbps at Pathfinder.

This is the best way to popularize space research among the masses.
