Next weekend I will lead the next hackathon. This hackathon will be the first of a series of four competitions and competitions of projects dedicated to IT integration and what is commonly referred to as the capacious term “creative industry”: cinema, television, museums, art sites and other entertainment stuff. As usual, the main task of the event is to create a get-together for IT people, where developers, designers and start-ups will be able to quickly create a working prototype of the product,
mess up with a
honorary jury and compete for cash prizes. Two days and one night at the site I will be waiting for you, mentors from the film industry, a hot pizza, a red bull, and the opportunity to embody my idea or join a promising team. In addition, this time it is possible not only to develop new prototypes of applications, but also to present existing ones (on the theme of film and television) within a special format - barcamp, at an event.

I guess all readers have heard about the hackathons. But few people participated in them. For many years now, both I and Apps4All have been promoting hackathons and have attracted developers, designers, authors of ideas with burning eyes and just interested in them. A well-organized hackathon is a great opportunity for developers to hone their skills in conditions as close as possible to those in battle. Deadlines and the struggle for prizes have a very positive effect on our abilities for focused work - the developer who came to the hackathon understands that “everything is for real” and does one hundred percent, gaining more valuable experience in two days than in the months of normal office work.

A properly organized hackathon has an extremely low entry threshold: you do not need the skills of sports programming or the ability to assemble prototypes in ten minutes. In fact, all you need is the ability to program. In any language and platform. There are more authors of ideas on hackathons than developers, therefore there are no extra hands in principle. Even if you have been developing firmware for C microcontrollers for the last five years, believe me, there will be at least a couple of commands that will be very happy to see you. One of my
habrapostov describes the mechanics of a typical hackathon - look, it's worth it.

Another positive feature of hackathons is the presence of mentors and experts on the site who want to share with you information about the specifics of the industry. Want to learn more about the backstage of creating television programs? What software is used in the installation of the movie? What is installed on the actors' smartphones and why they do not like it? Come - you will be told everything, they will show and share industry insiders. For my part, I am ready to tell and show the capabilities of the voximplant communication platform - our ability to transmit video will be most welcome, given the specifics of the hackathon.
