Sonic Pi music programming language, All-Russian programming contest and volunteer meeting this Friday

Last summer, when we were sorting out one of those bought for the Raspberry Pi children's camp, we came across a wonderful Sonic Pi . A programming language for music. The more we plunged into it, the more penetrated. And they included him in our competition, to participate in which we are waiting for your children.

A little more about the Sonic Pi. Just look at the code:

with_fx :reverb, mix: 0.2 do loop do play scale(:Eb2, :major_pentatonic, num_octaves: 3).choose, release: 0.1, amp: rand sleep 0.1 end end

More, of course, it is suitable for electronic dance music, the cyclicity of which fits well with the code. But by studying the examples, I found the code for the whole Bach symphony.

And then I saw it.

Live coded music is impressive. The whole team is now thinking over a special course on programming music for children. From the point of view of learning, the fact that a tangible result is obtained very quickly, literally from the first lines of code, creates motivation in learning.

We finally launched the All-Russian programming contest and digital creativity Young Digital Makes . Children from the 3rd to the 11th grade were offered a choice of implementing either an animation, a game, or an audio track. You can do anything, the main thing is that it be programmed.

We are waiting for your children. For the winners we prepare cool gifts.

The results of the competition will be announced on December 13 at the Young Digital Makers Children's Forum in Moscow, which we are now actively preparing and will write about later.

And tomorrow we are holding the next meeting of Kodabra volunteers, in an extremely comfortable office of the youth direction of ASI. Come to us at 19:00, discuss all the innovations in children's programming and prepare for going to school. Children in schools are waiting for us.
