I was working at Borland’s Russian representative office during the deal with Embarcadero, and I can say that ET was good at acquiring: development teams were greatly enhanced, then the company cross-licensed ( Fast Reports , etc.) and acquired several component libraries (FireMonkey and others), which were then reworked and made up the backbone of the product, significantly increasing the number of Delphi user developers at the expense of those who develop mobile applications.

Whether Idera will show the same gentlemanly approach to development tools as Embarcadero is hard to say. Obviously, the deal, like the sale of CodeGear, was influenced not only by sales figures (pretty good), but also by almost 3 million users of products such as Delphi, but it is unclear what strategy for them the new owner will adhere to.
In any case, a good sign is the amount of the transaction - in the market focused on developers and administrators, there have been no such large acquisitions for a long time.
