"Wooden" data center group Inoventica

The Inoventica data center is located in Sudogodsky district of the Vladimir region and is the first cloud-based data center of the Inoventica Group. Put into commercial operation in February 2012.

The optimal structure of capital investments during the construction of the first Inoventica data center was achieved through the use of innovative technological solutions (the use of a cooling system based on free-cooling technology and the availability of a remote monitoring and infrastructure management system), as well as an automatic service management system. The data center was built in record time - six months, despite the fact that general construction work was completed in 90 days. Minimization of operating costs at the stage of commercial operation of the data center is achieved through its integration into a dual-use facility - a recreational and recreation complex. Because of the need to comply with the uniform eco-style of all the buildings of the data center complex, it acquired a unique design and name - the world's first “wooden” data center.

When choosing a place for the construction of our first data center, the following factors were determining:


The use of a supply and exhaust cooling system with a free-cooling function, which mixes fresh street air with exhaust air from the machine room in a certain proportion, has allowed significant savings in both cold and warm seasons.
According to our calculations, the air temperature for cooling servers should not exceed the limit of 35-45 degrees, which corresponds to class A4 equipment, based on the heat exchange guidelines in the data center of the ASHRAE TC9.9 association for IT equipment - from 5 to 45 ° C at a temperature dew point at 12 ° C TP (DP) and relative humidity from 8 to 90%).
Inoventica cloudy data center is fundamentally different from any other data center built in Russia, since it lacks mechanical cooling, which significantly improved the energy efficiency of the facility and boldly declare that today it is the most environmentally friendly data center in the entire post-Soviet space.


Isolation of the hot aisle allows you to prevent mixing of hot and cold air currents, as well as to prevent local overheating.
The use of a remote monitoring and management system allowed building data centers outside settlements, minimizing operating costs and ultimately ensuring low cost of customer service.
This approach not only demonstrates excellent economic indicators, which, in our opinion, are quite impressive, but also a special approach of our companies to the environment - respect for it, as well as the desire to make the most efficient use of the national wealth of our country.
It is also worth noting that the estimated energy efficiency ratio of a data center with a full load should be about 1.07, which is a significant achievement not only in the domestic, but also in the world practice of building a data center. The same indicators can boast the largest players in the Internet market, such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo.


Although there are fire extinguishers and fire alarms in the data center, and the complex has its own fire engine, we deliberately refused to install a gas fire extinguishing system. Such a system is required by Tier specifications, but it is not needed to comply with GOST. Since servers are our property and insured, we don’t have a goal to save them at any cost.

As server hardware, we mainly use servers manufactured by Hewlett-Packard, and Supermicro of various configurations. For the organization of high-performance and fault-tolerant data warehouses are used products of the company Hewlett-Packard (3PAR).

In conclusion, I would like to emphasize that the use of innovative technologies by our company in cooling and scrupulous attitude to all the details when implementing the data center allows us not only to provide services at a competitive price, but also to offer our customers the most environmentally friendly IT services in Russia.
