Installation programs - how much do they influence the product or company image?

The other day an event occurred that just shocked. Namely, it was necessary to check the amount of ink in my old universal printer-scanner from HP, so I quickly found their program + driver for Windows 8.1, downloaded and installed. But the following struck:

1. The size of the installation program - 219 MB. And for Windows 7 and even more - 245 MB! And it is packaged!

2. Installation time - approximately equal to the installation time of the full Office from MS! If rough, then on a clean installation took about half an hour +. A small program of work with the printer and driver! More than half an hour, Karl!

3. The installation process itself. At first, everything was unpacked extremely slowly, then 8 unnamed components began to be installed very slowly, with progress starting from scratch for each one and it was completely incomprehensible how much had already been done.

4. But the inscription at the end of the installation killed the most: “After the overload, the installation process will continue” - and the only “Overload” button. That is, even simply closing the window and postponing the overload is impossible. And that is, this is not the end, they are still being further reinstalled!

So I think, is it possible that a huge HP company has so few hands growing not from its ass that you can’t do a normal installer that would work 10 times faster and install directly from a compressed archive, and didn’t unpack everything beforehand, as it was done with the king Peas? Are they not ashamed of such antediluvian and slow installers? And what does this have to be crammed into a simple program for working with a printer so that it takes 219 MB in a packaged form ?? Maybe there is a hidden steepest network shooter with three-dimensional worlds?

Or users on the drum and so it should be? Once after all install - nothing, will be tolerated?
