Acrobat went online - new rival Google Docs

Today, a beta version of the online service Acrobat.com has opened : it is a text editor, file hosting and collaboration tools in one place. There is a thought that the new development of the company Adobe was created on the model of Google Docs , which is currently the absolute leader among online office suites. However, Adobe programmers did everything in their own way, and thanks to close integration with Flash, almost perfect support for the PDF format and the unique proprietary software, the new online service turned out to be completely different from Google Docs.

Acrobat.com uses the text editor Buzzword, as well as ConnectNow Web's proprietary newsgroup and chat software (text, video, and voice are supported). Among the unique features of the service is the ability to convert up to five text documents to PDF.

The presentation of the online service took place on the eve of the release of the new version of Adobe Acrobat 9, which will embody several revolutionary innovations in PDF format, including the introduction of WMV and MOV video clips into the document, as well as entire web pages with preservation of animation, dynamic maps and 256 -bit encryption. Of course, offline Acrobat 9 will be tightly integrated with the online component.
